The Challenge
Pregnancy can be one of the most exciting times of our lives, but the presence of gestational diabetes can sometimes make it overwhelming. The HIgedi founder contacted Perpetio with the goal of creating the best support community for those dealing with gestational diabetes or who are willing to learn more about it. Our team was to make this app from scratch, including coming up with a feature set, choosing the UI design elements and branding, creating a user flow, and developing a cross-platform app. An important point for HIgedi was offering users to find a community around them, so incorporating GPS location, map display, and communication features, such as a chat, were our priorities.
The Solution
Perpetio’s design team started out by collecting the inspiration elements and making a mood board to help the client decide on the preferred app visuals. Drawing inspiration from this, we carefully selected a color palette dominated by soothing shades of purple, symbolizing compassion and comfort. Complementing this was a distinctive logo and typography promoting a feeling of safe space for sharing experiences and getting support. We created information structure, user flow, and wireframes to clearly outline the app’s structure and ensure users will have an intuitive and pleasant experience. The onboarding process is personalized, inviting users to share their experiences and interests, enabling the app to curate content tailored to their individual needs. Every design choice and feature implementation was guided by the goal of fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment within the HIgedi community.
The Result
While many apps offer tracking and data features, none focus on the community of millions with gestational diabetes. HIgedi is primarily a social app connecting women with gestational diabetes experience and prioritizing support. It's a hub to engage in discussions, read inspiring stories, and, above all, find and provide support. Users can search for specific topic-related posts by entering keywords, discover other women with similar experiences nearby, or explore gestational diabetes-related products. The result of this project was a final release of the HIgedi app made from scratch.
Community feed
Users can connect with women who have current or past gestational diabetes experiences or professionals eager to share their knowledge. The app offers to engage in conversations, seek recommendations, share and gain advice, provide encouragement, or simply vent. Users can also search for specific topic-related posts by entering keywords.
Say HI and find companions
HIgegi promotes establishing a connection between users who can relate to gestational diabetes experience. A map search feature allows discovering companions nearby and saying HI to start building a community of people managing gestational diabetes.
